Virginia Gutierrez's Obituary
Ms. Virginia Gutierrez, age 72, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mentor to many, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born on November 3, 1954, in El Campo, Texas. Throughout her life, she carried a rare gift for guidance and inspiration that touched not only her children, but countless others who sought her wisdom. As a devoted mother of five, she seamlessly blended her roles as nurturer and mentor, creating a home filled with open communication, unconditional love, and steady encouragement. She empowered her children to pursue their dreams while always standing ready with advice, strength, and compassion.
Virginia’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness, and her homemade chicken and gravy were legendary among family and friends—always made with love and a touch of joy.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Martin J. Gutierrez Jr. and his wife Yolanda Gutierrez; her son Mark Gutierrez and his girlfriend Dena Weitzel; her grandchildren Joel Gutierrez, Merlinda Gutierrez, Martin Gutierrez III, Nickolus Gutierrez, Malaia Gutierrez, Corbin Gutierrez, John Gutierrez Jr., Zechariah Gutierrez, Caleb Gutierrez, Marcie Gutierrez, and Bethany Gutierrez; and her great-grandchildren Ayleks Gutierrez, Alexxan Gutierrez, and Anasiyah Gutierrez. She is also survived by her beloved sisters and brothers: Pete, Jessie, Annie, Janie, and Margie.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held on January 23, 2026, at Hernandez Funeral Home, 2804 Fulton Street, Houston, Texas 77009. Family and friends are invited to share memories and lessons learned from Virginia, continuing her beautiful legacy of mentorship, love, and guidance.
