Richard Graham Prichard's Obituary
Richard Graham Pritchard, 76, passed away peacefully at the Richard A. Anderson Veterans Home after a courageous 15-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on November 7, 1948, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Richard was the firstborn son of William and Frances Pritchard. He spent his early years adventuring with his siblings—brothers Bill and Rob, and sister Rinda—creating a lifetime of cherished stories.
After graduating high school, Richard was drafted into the U.S. Army and served bravely in Vietnam. Upon his return, he pursued his education at Florida Bible College, earning an associate degree. Shortly thereafter, he began a distinguished 43-year career at NASA, where he was known for his dedication, integrity, and the deep respect he earned from colleagues. His work eventually brought him to Houston, Texas—a move that changed his life forever.
There, he met the love of his life, Kathy. Their connection was instant and enduring. Together, with son Nick, they built a life full of love, laughter, and purpose. They enjoyed biking, gardening, camping at the beach, traveling, and especially fishing—one of Richard’s greatest passions.
Richard was a devoted husband and father, known for his servant’s heart and tireless energy. He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor or friend, often found working on a project or helping someone with theirs. In 2000, he and Kathy built their dream home on two peaceful acres in Webster, Texas, where they spent countless meaningful hours outdoors with their animals—including beloved chickens.
His faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. Richard was an avid reader of the Word, an active member of his Bible study group, and a faithful greeter on the welcome team at church. He lived a life of humble service, always putting others before himself.
Richard also volunteered for many years with a therapy dog group, visiting schools, hospitals, and nursing homes with his beloved pup, Humphrey. He was always quick to help Kathy with room mother parties, little league coaching, and other events that supported the numerous charities they both held dear. Whenever someone needed help, Richard was there—humble, dependable, and strong.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Kathy Pritchard, and his son Nick. Also surviving him are his brothers and their wives, Bill and Deb Pritchard,
Rob and Darlene Pritchard; his sister Rinda and brother-in-law Mark Wilmesherr; nephews Matt (“CatDaddy”) Pritchard, Michael Jason Pritchard, Mike LaRocca, Donny Howard, Will Chappell, and Aaron Bryce; nieces Tiffany LaRocca, Lindsey Chappell, Kristen Bryce, and Shelby Howard; beloved great-nieces and nephews Harper and Karsyn LaRocca, and Luke Chappell; and dearest cousins Joan Spring, Carol Conigliaro, and Phyllis Palmer.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Friday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Crosspoint Church in Pearland, TX, with a reception to follow. More details are available at www.crosspointchurch.tv.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to CCA Texas (Coastal Conservation Association) to honor Richard’s deep love of fishing and the outdoors.
Richard’s life was marked by love, service, and unwavering faith. He will be remembered for his generous heart, steady presence, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
