Martha “Tata” Leticia Alexis, 60, of Spring Valley, New York passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Tomball,Texas. Over these last 2 years, she courageously battled cancer and now the Lord has called her home. Martha was born on February 12, 1965 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Born as Martha Leticia Ruiz to Rosa María Cabrales Dominguez and Roberto Ruiz Cuevas as their only daughter and eldest among her siblings: Felipe De Jesus Ruiz and Marcos Ruiz.
She graduated with her Licenciatura en Enfermería (Nursing License) from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT)in 1992. She worked and trained at various medical institutions such as the Dr. Carlos Canseco General Hospital and the Military Hospital Del Estado de tamps. After moving to New York in 1994, she married Dalton Alexis the following year and they went on to raise four children together: Genevieve Rose Alexis, Dalton Jovan Alexis, Jasleen Lisayette Alexis, and Jordan Ordam Alexis. For over 15 years, she dedicated herself to serving others as a medical assistant at Quest Diagnostics, Labcorp, and Refuah Health. Through her work, she provided care and kindness to countless individuals throughout the community, always offering compassion, patience, and a gentle touch.
Martha was a beloved and faithful member of Calvary Christian Church for 15 years and was deeply instrumental in the ministry. During her membership she worked tirelessly within the following ministries: Sunday School Teacher and President of the Ladies Fellowship until the day illness required her to step down. She served in several other committees such as evangelism and church deacon. Within the Church Council: Assembly of Christian Churches she worked in the following ministries: Local Director of Christian Education for the Department of Education, and Treasurer of the Ladies Association, Eastern District, Assembly of Christian Churches. In 2012, through the Theological Institute of the Assembly of Christian Churches she earned her Diploma of Theology.
Martha will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her 4 children, her mother, 2 brothers, and 8 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Martha Leticia Alexis exemplified the highest ideals of motherhood, friendship, and unwavering faith.
A celebration of Martha Alexis’s life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 4pm - 8pm and Saturday 17, 2025 at 9am at Hernandez Funeral Home in Houston, TX. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes monetary donations to support funeral arrangements and honor her memory. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all those who have offered their love, prayers, and support during this time. Your kindness and presence are deeply appreciated. Martha embodied the qualities we all strive for: selflessness, kindness, and a boundless generosity of spirit. Her legacy of strength, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the many lives she enriched.

Martha “Tata” Leticia Alexis, de 60 años, residente de Spring Valley, Nueva York, falleció el domingo 4 de mayo de 2025 en Tomball, Texas. Durante los últimos dos años, enfrentó valientemente una batalla contra el cáncer, y ahora el Señor la ha llamado a su hogar celestial. Martha nació el 12 de febrero de 1965 en Tampico, Tamaulipas, México. Hija de Rosa María Cabrales Domínguez y Roberto Ruiz Cuevas, fue su única hija y la mayor de sus hermanos: Felipe de Jesús Ruiz y Marcos Ruiz.
Se graduó con su Licenciatura en Enfermería de la Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) en 1992. Trabajó y se formó en diversas instituciones médicas como el Hospital General Dr. Carlos Canseco y el Hospital Militar del Estado de Tamaulipas. Después de mudarse a Nueva York en 1994, se casó con Dalton Alexis en 1995 y juntos formaron una familia con cuatro hijos: Genevieve Rose Alexis, Dalton Jovan Alexis, Jasleen Lisayette Alexis y Jordan Ordam Alexis. Durante más de 15 años, se dedicó al servicio de los demás como asistente médica en Quest Diagnostics, Labcorp y Refuah Health. A través de su trabajo, brindó atención y amabilidad a innumerables personas de la comunidad, ofreciendo siempre compasión, paciencia y una mano gentil.
Martha fue una querida y fiel miembro de la iglesia Calvary Christian Church durante 15 años, donde tuvo un papel fundamental en el ministerio. Durante su membresía, trabajó incansablemente en los siguientes ministerios:Maestra de Escuela Bíblica y Presidenta de la Sociedad de Damas hasta el día en que salió por causa de enfermedad. Ella sirvió en varios comités tal como evangelismo y el Diaconado de la iglesia. Martha será profundamente extrañada y recordada con amor por su familia, amistades y todas las personas cuyas vidas tocó. Le sobreviven sus 4 hijos, su madre, 2 hermanos, y 8 sobrinas y sobrinos. Fue precedida en la muerte por su padre. Martha Leticia Alexis ejemplificó los más altos ideales de la maternidad, la amistad y la fe inquebrantable.
La celebración de la vida de Martha Alexis se llevará a cabo el viernes 16 de mayo de 2025 de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., y el sábado 17 de mayo de 2025 a las 9:00 a.m. en la funeraria Hernández Funeral Home en Houston, Texas. Todos son bienvenidos. En lugar de flores, la familia agradece contribuciones monetarias para apoyar con los arreglos funerarios y honrar su memoria.
