Maria D Ornelas' Obituary
Maria De Rosario Ornelas passed away on May 5, 2026, at the age of 63. She spent her final moments in the presence of her children and loved ones.
Her favorite color was purple, evident in everything around her. She loved movies, art, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her greatest love was being outdoors; gardening, taking walks through beautiful parks, and collecting shells at the beach. Her laugh was boisterous and loud.
She had a gift for making life feel special, no matter what she had to work with.
Her faith was an important part of her life. She believed deeply in God, La Virgen de San Juan De Los Lagos, prayer, and the comfort faith could bring.
Maria is survived by her five children: Mayra Flores Ornelas, Liliana Flores Watts, Mabel Flores Smetters, Jesus Isidro Garcia, and Stephanie Garcia; her grandchildren, Isabel Pearl Watts, Charley Jade Watts, and Maximo William Smetters; along with a large family of brothers and sisters.
A service honoring her memory will be held on May 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hernandez Funeral Home, 13623 Perry Rd, Houston, TX 77070.
Flowers are welcomed and encouraged in Maria’s memory, as she truly loved and appreciated them.
