Maria Antonia Ibarra's Obituary
Maria Antonia “Toni” Ibarra, 62 of Spring, Tx, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Toni, was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished sister, aunt, and faithful friend.
Born October 28, 1963, in Ciudad Acuña Coahuila, MX to Juan Manuel and Maria Teresa Rosas. Toni was raised in Big Spring, Forsan, and Del Rio Texas, before later making her home in Houston and the Houston Area. She graduated from Parkview Baptist High School and earned her Early Childhood and Development Certifications to become an Assistant and Associate Director for Preschoolers.
She taught at Montessori and preschool academies for over 20 years, touching countless of young lives with her patience, creativity, and empathy. Toni built her life around faith, family, and caring for others. She shared a beautiful marriage of 46 years with her beloved husband, Gerardo, and together they created a loving home filled with unconditional love.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by parents, Juan Manuel and Maria Teresa Rosas and her beloved children. Her son, Christian, and his wife Kathryn, and her son Alexander and his wife Alexa. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma” to Christian, Lillian, Hendrix, Hayes, and newest addition, Hazel Rose. Her grandchildren were truly the center of her world, and she cared for them with endless love, patience, and devotion. She treasured every moment spent with them, whether through quiet everyday moments or simply making them feel safe and deeply loved.
A woman of deep faith, Toni dedicated many years of her life serving her church, Woodlands Church, where she faithfully worked and poured her heart into her community. She was always quick to offer a prayer, comforting words, or encouragement to anyone who needed it. Her faith was not only something she believed, but something she lived every day.
Toni was beautiful inside and out — glamorous and full of personality. She loved celebrity gossip, decorating her immaculate home, and keeping up with the people and things that brought her joy. Her Friday Pizza and a Movie nights with her husband was another passion. Whether it be old western, foreign, or a good action movie, Toni was all in for it. She also had a creative spirit and a beautiful way with words, often journaling and reflecting through her writing. Her laughter was unforgettable — deep, joyful, and usually followed by a playful punch to whoever was sitting beside her!
She was a beloved sister to Mely Jimenez, John Rosas and his wife Irma, Ruben Rosas, and Teresa Galindo and her husband Rick. Toni also held closely in her heart the memory of her sister, Irma “Mimi” Flowers, whose passing deeply impacted her.
Toni’s love extended deeply to her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Toni’s beautiful spirit, unwavering faith, and endless love will continue to live on through all those blessed to know her. She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
Visitation services for Maria Antonia Ibarra will be held on May 17, 2026, at Hernandez Funeral Home Houston, from 3pm - 8pm, with a religious service beginning at 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of her beautiful life and enduring spirit.
