Lee Ann (Sissy) Holland Mayer's Obituary
Lee Ann Holland Mayer, passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2026, from a heart attack. She was 65 years old. She was born on April 23, 1960, at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1981.
Lee Ann finished high school at North Fulton High School in Atlanta, class of 1978. After which, she attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California; where she earned her Graduate Gemologist's diploma. She applied that knowledge while working with diamonds at Stuckey Diamonds and Aviv Diamonds. She then worked as a gemologist for https://I.W.Marks.
Eventually she decided to attend Memorial City School of Vocational Nursing at Memorial Hermann, where she became an LVN. She worked primarily in home health, at Bayou City Home Health.
She is remembered as our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and sister, with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved music and attended innumerable rock and roll concerts throughout her life.
She followed sports, especially the Houston Astros, Texans, and Rockets. She loved to travel, both domestically and internationally; to Colorado in the winter snow; and spent a year in Canada, travelled to Europe and to South America; as well as cruising.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Mayer, and her twin grandchildren, Sarah and Caleb Ledesma; her son Stephen Mayer; along with her father, Phillip Holland and wife, Susie, and her mother, Margaret Holland; all of Houston; her brother, Anthony Holland and wife, Desiree, of Hanceville, Alabama. Lee Ann is survived by her first cousin Curt Ross in Hamburg, New Jersey; along with other cousins in Holland, Georgia; and Wabash, Indiana. She is also survived by her former husband Paul Mayer, and her dearest friend for many years, Christy Bauch, both of Houston.
There will be a service for Lee Ann at the Hernandez Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026. Viewing and Service is from 3-5; Friends are invited to come and go anytime between 3pm and 8pm. 13623 Perry Road, Houston, TX 77070. The Harris County Sheriff's Office Chaplain will be there for the service, leading us in prayer.
Lee Ann had asked to be cremated and laid to rest in The Holland Family Plot in Lyerly, Georgia.
