Jorge G. Reyna's Obituary
Jorge Reyna, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Jorge was born on June 27, 1945, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Abraham Reyna Silva and Josefina G. de Reyna. On June 27, 1970, he married the love of his life, Nora Thelma Garza Castillo, beginning a marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and family. In August 1972, Jorge immigrated to Houston in search of greater opportunities and a better future for his family. A few months later, in November 1972, his wife Nora and their two daughters joined him, and together they built a life rooted in hard work, perseverance, and love. Jorge dedicated much of his professional life to serving his community through his work. He was employed as a machinist with BJ Hughes from July 1974 until November 1984. In February 1985, he joined the Exhibits Department at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where he worked for more than 35 years. Through his skill, craftsmanship, and dedication, he contributed to countless exhibits before retiring in March 2020. Above all else, Jorge was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his family. Whether repairing something that needed fixing, preparing meals for family gatherings, or simply spending time with those he loved, Jorge was always there when he was needed. His presence brought comfort, strength, and joy to those around him. Jorge is survived by his beloved wife, Nora Reyna; his children, Nora (Rene) Andrade, Perla (Don) Carreon, Jorge (Karla) Reyna Jr., and Milagro (Sergio) Chavez; his 12 grandchildren; his 4 great-grandchildren; and many cherished fur-baby grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and family devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 12th, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hernandez Funeral Home Houston – Perry Road. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories as they celebrate Jorge’s life and honor his lasting legacy
