Emily Joan Neyra-Helal's Obituary
Emily Joan Neyra-Helal, 74, born in Houston, Texas, on March 3, 1951, went home to Jesus, our Lord and Savior, on March 24, 2025. Emily, a native of Houston, attended the University of St. Thomas, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in accounting and later went on to obtain her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix. Emily had an impressive career as a property and sales tax accountant, working for various organizations in and around the Houston area, including Arthur Andersen and Rice University. A cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she enriched the lives of everyone around her with her warmth, creativity, and boundless love. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and Emily cherished every moment spent with them. A passionate baker, Emily poured her heart into creating sweet treats, a true testament to her dedication to nurturing those she held dear. In addition to baking, Emily was an avid seamstress, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic spirit. Her talent extended beyond the home, as she managed a small retail shop where she showcased her appreciation for unique clothing and jewelry. Through her shop, Emily not only shared her creativity but also touched the lives of so many in the community. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Emily will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, vibrant spirit, and the countless ways she brightened our lives. Her legacy will live on in the beautiful memories we've shared and the love she instilled in each of us. Emily was preceded in death by her husband Nasr Helal, brother Robert Neyra, niece Amelia Clarita Neyra, her parents Paul Neyra and Amelia Mata, and her stepmother Amada Neyra. Emily is survived by her wonderful children: daughters Michele, Annette, Melissa, Adrianna, and son Simon. Grandchildren: Amelia, Adam, Joshua, Justin, Trinee, Jesse, Luke, Anthony and Tori. Emily is also survived by her brother, Michael, and her sisters, Elizabeth and Linda; she also has several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rest in peace, Emily. You will be forever missed and always treasured in our hearts.
